

Textual content description offered by the architects. This mission is the renovation of a wood residence approaching its centennial anniversary. The home was initially in-built 1931, on a plot developed via the Rakuhoku First District Land Readjustment Mission, an early city planning scheme in northern Kyoto. A number of homes from that interval nonetheless stay within the neighborhood, evoking the refined residential character of the time. The present homeowners, a pair of their seventies, have inherited the home via three generations because it was first bought by the husband’s grandfather.
